Facebook and More Posted By: Ryan August 12th, 2010 |
|
Digital Arms Design is now officially on Facebook. Well I've had the page made for about a month, but I wanted to fill it with some content before really showing it off. The Facebook page will be very similar to the Twitter account but with a little extra content. Most status updates will be pushed from Twitter but on occasion I'll post some interesting extras. So please head over to the page by Clicking Here and hit the Like button to get updates (you can also use the Like Box to your right).
In other news, still working away on other projects. There are about four in the pipeline still being finalized but one has finally broke the surface. Picton Performances in the Park is a blog type website set up for, well... Performances in the Park, in Picton. The original design was created by Scout Design with implementation finished by Digital Arms Design. Be sure to check it out at www.PictonPerformances.com and they are still having shows until the 29th of August.

In Need of an Update Posted By: Ryan July 12th, 2010 |
|
Afternoon,
Yikes it's been crazy. The title sort of says it all, this website is in need of a major update. In my last news posting, in September 2009, I mentioned the setup of a Twitter account. I've been keeping that account updated at least once a week lately and I'm hoping to bring that same mentality to the front page with, at the very least, monthly updates.
To start things off, I have graduated from Trent University as of April 2010. Yah! After a bit of celebrating I turned my attention to a full time job. While I applied for jobs and went to interviews I started to work more and more on the business. Going to local (Peterborough) business networking meetings I found more work for the business than I did for myself. So in conclusion, I've decided to go full force with the business!
Over the next week I'm going to add a few new websites to the project page and showcase the networking meetings I've been going to over the past few months. Also I'll give an update as to what I'm going to be doing this summer. And finally I'm hoping to get around to adding Digital Arms Design to another social network, Facebook.
Look forward to that and a whole lot more!

Summer Update Posted By: Ryan September 1st, 2009 |
|
I'd like to give you an update before heading back to Trent University for my final year in their Computer Science program. Also, I should mention work on Digital Arms Design Projects are still underway, although most are comprised of making updates and modifications to current websites. When that work is completed I'll see if they can be added to the Projects page, or at least showcased in a blog post so you can check out my new work. This isn't me stating I'm not interested in creating new and unique websites, it's just those projects haven't been arriving in my inbox these last few months.
This past summer I've been working with the Small Business Centre, where most of my time was spent working on their Summer Company Program. The Summer Company Program allows students returning to school between the ages of 15 and 29 to start their own company of their choosing for the summer. This is the very program that I enrolled in back in 2006 where I started Digital Arms Design as my small business. Now it should be mentioned for the past two summers after graduating from the program I did volunteer as a mentor in the program, but this year I got to be more involved and work on more than just the mentoring process. This year in the program the Small Business Centre had twenty-five students in the program, running businesses of all kinds including landscaping, children's entertaining, horse training, photography & design, and console repair to just name a few. As is the case with most years, many of the students will continue their business after the completion of the program just like I did three years ago.
My work at the Small Business Centre was a great experience and I made some great connections throughout the summer months. Anyways that is all for now, I will update the Digital Arms Design Twitter account when interesting tidbits pop up and before long I'll have another blog post. Until then, have a great September and feel free to email if you have any questions: ryan@digitalarmsdesign.com

Third Year Complete/Twitter Feed Posted By: Ryan May 1st, 2009 |
|
May 1st is upon us again, marking yet another year of Digital Arms Design being in operation. Today is exactly three years since I started the company back in 2006. Since my last posting I have completed my first year at Trent University and am now enjoying my time away from school with some work on Digital Arms Design.
First off, I've rewritten the Services page. Prior to the update it listed packages and additional features that were offered. While technically accurate it was still just a list, where as now it is a detailed description of how Digital Arms Design does web design. Broken down into four categories it details the Client Business Relationship, our Development Process, Web Design With Your Business in Mind, and Letting Us Know What You're Thinking. I hope this gives clients a better idea of our Services.
Second, I've made a small update to the About page. As stated in the opening paragraph I've graduated from Loyalist College in the Computer Programmer/System Analyst program and have now completed my first year in a transfer agreement with Trent University to earn my Computer Science degree. I still plan to keep Digital Arms Design running and continue work with my web design.
Finally as you will notice on the right side of the website I have integrated Twitter functionality. This is the tool I was discussing in my last news post that should help keep the website up to date between the actual news posts. Twitter won't replace the news posts, just reinforce them. Also if you have a Twitter account feel free to follow DigiArmsDesign to get updates in your Twitter feed.
That's all the news I have for today. Should be a few posts through out the summer as I hope to get some more work completed in the next few months. Enjoy your summer everyone!

2008 Update/Working on the Lack of Communication Posted By: Ryan November 3rd, 2008 |
|
Hello Everyone,
Two new projects have been added to the Projects page. The first is Spasm Ink which launched in August 2008. Here is a quick description provided by the owner of Spasm Ink, Ryan Conlin:
"Spasm Ink is a small online clothing shop that offers a wonderful selection of originally designed T-Shirts. Spasm Ink is owned and operated by Ryan Conlin of Kingston Ontario."The second is Little Darlings Keepsakes which launched in September 2008. Bob Darling provided this statement describing what Little Darlings is all about:
~ Ryan Conlin
"Be The Star Of The Story! Both websites can be accessed from the Projects page, please check them both out as they offer some unique and creative products.
Imagine the joy of children as they flip through the pages of a beautifully written and illustrated colorful books and see their name woven into the storyline. Little Darlings personalized books encourages children to read and makes reading fun with 34 titles available in English and 28 available in French. Create a unique family keepsake that will be treasured for years to come.
Other Products include Name origins, pet pedigrees and birthday and anniversary almanacs and more.
Great Fundraising Opportunities for schools, daycares, preschool, churches, sports teams and many more organizations. Begin the adventure at www.littledarlingskeepsakes.ca.
A special thanks to Digital Arms Design for the creation of our website which defines who we are and for the easily navigated on-line store!
Inspire the joy of reading... Encourage the imagination... Create a lasting keepsake..."
~ Bob Darling, Little Darlings
One last thing I'd like to say is I am working on a solution for the lack of communication on the website (as evident by the lack of posts in the past 10 months). Besides writing more news posts I will be integrating a tool that I have been using personally for the past 6 months or so. I'm hoping it will help this website do what it was designed to do, that being keeping you informed in what Digital Arms Design is doing. Look forward to updates in the coming month or so.
Thanks and enjoy your November,
Ryan

Welcome to '08/Quinte Parents Online Posted By: Ryan January 14th, 2008 |
|
Happy New Year Everyone!
Right before the holiday break Digital Arms Design helped launch a new website titled Quinte Parents Online. Here is how the owner, Elise Heaton, describes her website:
"Quinte Parents Online, all the information and resources anyone living in the Quinte Region ever needs. Whether you are a parent, grandparent or caregiver, if you have a child in your life this is the website for you. Find out about community events, get important phone numbers or find out what local Quinte merchants have to offer you and your family, all at www.quinteparentsonline.ca"Along with announcing Quinte Parents Online, I've done a small refresh to the look of the website. You'll notice the links have been integrated into the main content capsule. Also the Projects page has seen a layout update. Now instead of going through Digital Arms Design projects one by one, you are presented with a list in the left hand section and details on whatever project you click on in the right hand section.

If you have any comments about the new changes, or about Quinte Parents Online please send them to ryan@digitalarmsdesign.com.

Summer Update Posted By: Ryan August 12th, 2007 |
|
This summer Digital Arms Design has been busy working on and maintaining several projects. One of which is a pilot project for the Summer Company Program in Belleville and Cobourg. The website is meant to give Mentors and Students a means of communication besides the standard bi-weekly meetings. The website houses a Wiki which is being used to host notes and reports, a Calendar that is constantly being updated with events related to the program, and a Forum where users could have discussions about business problems and other program related issues.
Two of the three features listed above are new to the Digital Arms Design catalog of services and will be available to future and past clients starting immediately. If you’d like more information on the new Services (Wiki or Calendar) visit our Services Page or drop us an email by visiting our Contact Page.
As for the other projects mentioned at the start of this post I will be shedding some light on them in the upcoming months (September, October). Stay tuned to our news section for more information in the coming months ahead.

Welcome to the New Digital Arms Design Posted By: Ryan May 1st, 2007 |
|
Hello everyone, and welcome to the new Digital Arms Design! I put a lot of work into the new design and I feel it is a step in the right direction for the business. If you've seen the old design I hope you'll agree with me when I say the new one is far easier on the eyes. Not to say the old one was horrible, but it definitely deserved some fine tuning.
Allow me to give you a brief run through of all the new stuff I've added, besides the new colour scheme and layout you'll notice a few changes to some of the content on the site. First off I've added a few additions to the Services page, including our new dynamic home page which allows the client to log in and update the main content as they see fit. Second, the Projects page has been changed to a single Flash element where you can browse the company projects one by one. Third, on the contact page you'll notice a more robust contact form with inputs for extra contact information and you can also request a copy of the message to be sent to your email. And finally, the Home page for Digital Arms Design now features an Archive link to where you can browse the news postings for the company since its beginnings in May 2006.
Hopefully you all enjoy the new site design and if you have any comments/concerns don't hesitate to drop us a line from the Contact page.

Begin the Countdown Posted By: Ryan April 9th, 2007 |
|
Hello Everyone, May is approaching and that means it's almost been one year since Digital Arms Design officially started business. For the past month I've been working hard to give Digital Arms Design the birthday gift it deserves, and what better gift for a web design company then a facelift! That's right; on May 1st when you come to www.digitalarmsdesign.com you'll notice quite a few changes in layout and design. I'm not going to spoil the surprise for those who haven't helped along the way.
Also, the Millside Ceramics website has been completed and you can be viewed in its entirety here: Millside Ceramics. Millside Ceramics is owned and operated by Marleen Murphy which offers hand painted Native ceramics for sale and wholesale located on the Tyendenega Mohawk Territory. At the website you'll find up to date information on all events Marleen will be attending and an extensive gallery of her products.
That's all the news for now, see you May 1st!

Fall Update Posted By: Ryan September 22nd, 2006 |
|
Not only is September back to school for most of the student body, its also the busiest month for Digital Arms Design so far! We have several projects well under way, and some just starting out. First off, I would like to introduce you to Programmers Union which is shaping up to be a great tool for the Computer Programming/System Analyst students at Loyalist College. Basically what it offers is a way for the students to talk to each other and collaborate to bring the entire program online, through an already filling up Wiki and Forums for discussion.
Also Digital Arms Design is happy to announce a new client joining our ever growing portfolio. Millside Ceramics is a ceramic store that offers hand painted Native art for sale and wholesale run by Marleen Murphy located on the Tyendenaga Mohawk Territory. Go check out the website for more information.
